Detroit Lions vs New York Giants Sun. Oct. 17th 1pm EST
The Detroit Lions and the New York Giants are two teams in the NFC Conference that have exceeded expectations this season in my opinion as the Lions offense is much improved with rookie running back Jahvid Best being the frontrunner for Offensive Rookie of the Year and the Giants defense has come alive once again striking fear in the hearts of opposing quarterbacks.
Obviously, the Detroit Lions would like to have a better record at this point in the season as they have only been able to get one win on the year, but they way they have played without their franchise quarterback Matthew Stafford (shoulder) has been impressive to say the least.
Unfortunately, the improved play hasn’t improved their record, but they will be looking to change that in Week 6 against the New York Giants. The odds makers sure don’t think the Lions have much of a shot this week and have the NFL football odds set at +10 for Detroit.
As of right now, the New York Giants are pretty heavily favored in this one as they are -10.5 favorites to beat the Detroit Lions in Week 6, but I believe Best and company will have something up their sleeve this weekend and will not be going down without a fight.
There is no question that the New York Giants are the better all around team in comparison to the Detroit Lions, but with quarterback Shaun Hill playing as well as he has this season in place of Matthew Stafford and Jahvid Best quickly turning into one of the best running backs in the league, this team can be dangerous and a threat to any opponent on any given Sunday.
Ultimately, I believe the Giants will most likely win this game, but I really can’t see them covering this spread as the Lions are a much better team than the spread suggests.
